Rutgers' business curriculum 'friends' social media

More advertising companies are harnessing the networking power of social media to further drive their internet marketing services, and the business education world is jumping on the trend too.

The Center for Management Development at Rutgers University recently announced it would be offering three courses - on social media marketing, mobile marketing and web analytics - about marketing to an internet audience.

While the mobile marketing class addresses how to converting consumers who traffic mobile websites into buyers, the social media course will show class goers how to appeal to a wider audience on the platforms and track the effectiveness of these efforts.

"These three short courses are perfect for them and also suitable for anyone who’s responsible for developing marketing strategy and implementation plans for their organization," says Eric Greenberg, the director of Rutgers' CMD marketing programs.

For companies looking to branch into social media marketing, it's important to understand the environment they're diving into, Business 2 Community reports. Investing heavily in social media campaigns may make sense for big corporations with a flush marketing budget, but small businesses must do more to engage with clients than simply growing their Facebook friend base, the source says.
