TV episode search engine released by Google

Published April 27, 2010

Adding to the already lengthy list of content types indexed and made searchable by Google, the company recently debuted a new search engine that will allow users to find TV episodes.

In an entry on the company's official blog, Google said that "now, when you search for your favorite TV show in Google Videos, check the lefthand toolbar for 'Episodes.' By clicking on the links in the Search Options panel, you can browse by season to see all episodes, and drill down to see all sources for a specific episode."

While social media blog Mashable notes that this functionality is available elsewhere, through startups like Clicker, adding this type of search to an engine with as dominant a market position as Google could prove to be a fundamental shift for digital marketing professionals whose work involves online TV episodes.

The convenience of the by-episode or by-season framework provided by the search engine could make it quite popular among the growing target surface of online TV watchers, and digital marketing that leverages the new system could pay dividends.ADNFCR-3041-ID-19743361-ADNFCR
