Report: Marketers to push even further into digital and data-driven marketing

Published April 21, 2010

Marketing professionals looking to maximize the impact of their content in 2010 are turning heavily to digital marketing techniques, according to the results of the Chief Marketing Officer Council's State of Marketing Report.

The CMO Council's executive director, Donovan Neale-May, said that "the transformation of marketing organizations, practices and functions is well underway. This is being driven by the need to engage at an individual level, create more content relevance, and leverage a new world of crowd-sourcing internet communities, omnipresent connectivity, and pervasive mobile device ownership."

Almost half of the more than 600 marketing professionals surveyed said that they were planning drastic overhauls of their digital marketing efforts in the coming year, and roughly a third indicated that they would move more heavily into data-driven marketing. The study also showed that the increasing digital emphasis is causing organizational changes in the marketing world.

In particular, high levels of budgetary growth were seen in the SEO, social media, and mobile communications sections of the marketing firms studied, which could indicate that experts are increasingly convinced of the importance of these areas in integrated marketing.ADNFCR-3041-ID-19729824-ADNFCR
