Info-rich Yellow Page listings may boost customer traffic

Published June 28, 2010

When it comes to finding a business, the Yellow Pages are a first choice for many consumers. According to a new report from the Yellow Pages Association, conducted by research firm Burke, 65 percent of consumers reference the Yellow Pages, either on or offline, when trying to find information for local businesses.

The study found that many consumers want more info-rich listings. This includes hours of operation, details about projects and services, prices, locations and website addresses.

For business owners who strive to steer clear of information overload, it may be of interest that the Yellow Pages Association found only 2 percent of print users and 5 percent of internet users thought there was too much data in the ads.

The takeaway point from the report, indicates Search Engine Land, is that info-rich ads ensure that consumers have all the information needed to make purchasing decisions. "A great-looking ad in a heavily used directory can fail to maximize the level of leads one expects if it doesn't include all of the information that consumers want when making decisions," says the site.ADNFCR-3041-ID-19862267-ADNFCR
