Geo-social firm Scvngr brings reward program to New York companies

New York marketing agencies have new options when it comes to their mobile Scvngr initiatives, as the location-based platform recently unveiled a paid local rewards plan to firms in the area.
ClickZ reports that Scvngr's rewards program will cost $80 per month following a free trial. While other platforms, such as Facebook's recently announced Deals service, are free, Scvngr also provides participating sponsors with marketing materials, including branded QR code stickers and coasters, which is ideal for time-strapped companies that want to introduce a geo-social strategy.
Scvngr first launched its rewards program in the company's home city of Boston in August, and the program has been extended to Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and San Francisco since then.
While many businesses are bolstering their digital marketing initiatives with geo-social elements, the technology still has a limited appeal. A recent report from Pew Research Center found that only 4 percent of American consumers actively use location-based social networks and only 1 percent utilize them every day. This number is considerably higher with younger consumers, though, making it a valuable asset to campaigns targeting Millennials.
