Conan launches comedy tour with new website

TeamCoco.com will be the source for information about comedian Conan O'Brien's upcoming 30-city "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on TV" tour.
O'Brien's surprisingly early exit from the Tonight Show led to a widespread wave of public support, which the comedian is only now, apparently, attempting to turn into creative marketing for his tour. Social media blog Mashable wrote that "we suspected something might be in the works when he finally joined Twitter (and immediately found a huge fan base)."
Creative marketing experts would do well to note the adroitness with which O'Brien's team turned the comedian's online popularity to their advantage - the featured picture on the front page of the website is a mock-serious portrait created by a fan. This is not to say that the creative marketing is solely based on an appeal to populism - on the contrary; the tour is prominently sponsored by credit card company American Express, whose logo appears on the front page of TeamCoco.com.
The website is currently selling tickets to the first seven shows on O'Brien's tour, which kicks off in Eugene, Oregon.
